HeyGroop started with a small, familiar frustration: a group that wanted to do something together, and a thread that never quite got them there. We thought the fix was a better way to reach the answer — not a louder place to keep talking.
Most apps are built to hold your attention. They measure success in time-on-screen, and every feature is one more reason to stay. HeyGroop is built for the opposite outcome. The best thing it can do is help your group decide and then hand you back your evening.
A group thread is brilliant at sending messages and terrible at reaching an answer. Ideas scroll away, a "yes" three screens up gets lost, and nobody can hold the whole plan in their head. HeyGroop's job is to turn that noise into one card everyone can trust — a single, always-current record of what the group actually agreed to, with the reason behind each decision.
That belief shapes every choice we make — including the ones that cost us. It's why HeyGroop proposes and never overrules, why it asks for as little as possible about you, and why there are no ads and nothing to sell. The list below isn't marketing. It's the set of lines we've decided not to cross.

HeyGroop is built by Steamboat Software, an independent studio that makes privacy-first apps — small, focused tools designed to do one job well and respect the people using them. We're not backed by advertising, and we don't answer to a data business. That independence is exactly what lets us keep the four lines above.
HeyGroop is in active development, coming to iOS and Android. We're building it carefully and staying honest about what's ready and what isn't. If that sounds like the kind of app you've been waiting for, we'd love to let you know the moment it's live.
